Redirect Tracer

Follow every hop a link takes — HTTP 3xx · Meta Refresh · JavaScript

Guide

What is a URL redirect checker?

A URL redirect checker follows a link through every redirect until it reaches the final page. This tool shows each hop, the redirect type, status code, response time, cookies, and final destination — including JavaScript and meta refresh redirects that a simple HTTP client would miss.

What it checks

  • HTTP redirects 301, 302, 303, 307, and 308 responses that point to a new URL.
  • Meta refresh HTML tags that send the browser to another page after a delay.
  • JavaScript redirects location.href, location.replace, and similar navigation patterns.

What you can do with it

  • Troubleshoot links Find the exact hop where a redirect fails, loops, or returns an error.
  • Audit SEO redirects Count hops, spot redirect chains, and confirm the final landing page.
  • Verify affiliate links Check merchant destinations, affiliate IDs, and tracking parameters.
  • Expand short URLs See where a tiny URL really goes before you click or share it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a URL redirect checker?

A URL redirect checker follows a link through every redirect until it reaches the final page. It shows each hop, the redirect type, status code, and final destination.

How does this redirect tracer work?

It requests the URL from its server, follows HTTP 3xx responses, and reads JavaScript and meta refresh redirects from the page. It carries cookies between hops so session-based redirects still work.

Can it detect JavaScript and meta refresh redirects?

Yes. It detects common JavaScript navigation such as location.href and location.replace, as well as meta refresh tags. Heavily obfuscated or runtime-generated redirects may not be detected.

Why does the final URL lose its tracking parameters?

Many merchants redirect to a clean canonical URL and discard the query string. The tracer keeps the parameters it found earlier in the chain and offers a parametrized final URL that restores them.

Is it safe to trace a shortened or unknown link?

The tracer fetches the link from its server and does not execute the final page's full JavaScript or submit forms. Still treat a suspicious destination with caution, and do not open it if you do not trust it.
